2011 is shaping up to be a tech filled year (for me at least). I am signed up to attend or volunteer for several events over the next few months and I am stoked.
West Liberty University is hosting their 10th annual MAD (Media Arts & Design) Festival on Friday, April 29 and the event is going to showcase a wide variety of media arts – video, electronic music, animation, illustration, mixed media, and digital imaging.
AITP Region 18 is hosting an IT Con on Saturday May 7 at the Holiday Inn – Akron West. The one day conference will have 3 tracks to choose from, a Hands-on Developer Workshop, IT Pros and Career Development. Cost is $10 per track and is open to all IT professionals.
WordCamp Columbus is a 2 day event being held at the Center for Workforce Development on June 17th and 18th. Day One of the event will be for Beginners and Non Profit Organizations wanting to learn about WordPress and Day Two will be for developers wishing to learn more about the core features of WordPress. It sounds like there are going to be some heavy hitters doing some of the presentations. Angie Meeker has done a great job putting this event together.
Once again a SQL Saturday event will be held in Wheeling, WV. SQL Saturday #80 is scheduled for July 23 and will be held at the West Virginia Northern Community College. This one day event is free and provides training for people who are interested in SQL Server. It sounds like there are going to be some SQL Rock Stars doing presentations. Last years event drew about 80 attendees and this year should be bigger as the event will be better advertised. I am happy to volunteer and help put this event together with my friend John Sterrett.
Throw in the monthly Greater Wheeling Chapter AITP meetings (check out the meeting schedule) and it is going to be a fun Spring and Summer.
